Shimba Hills Safari – 2 Days Safari from Mombasa to Shimba Hills National Reserve
Day 1: Mombasa – Shimba Hills
Depart from your Mombasa hotel after breakfast for your safari to Shimba Hills, crossing the Likoni Channel by ferry to get to the mainland, South Coast. The short journey takes you through cashew nuts and palm tree plantations and also gives you an insight into the lifestyle of the local people.
Enter Shimba Hills national reserve and begin morning safari game drive in the reserve looking out for wildlife then visit the Sheldrick falls (optional), go down the hill, 45 minutes gentle walk takes you to the breathtaking spectacular Sheldrick waterfall. Watch water splashing atop a cliff 30 meters high and the water forms a natural pool – this is a fitness exercise and its recommended for the physically fit people.
Drive through the Shimba Hills reserve to Shimba lodge – a ‘tree’ lodge built on stilts, with walk ways above the ground, overlooking a waterhole and salt lick in a forest glade, Shimba Hills Lodge provides a perfect sport to watch the creatures of the wild.

Day 2: Shimba Hills – Mombasa
Early morning safari game drive in Shimba Hills National Reserve looking out for African wildlife – Shimba Hills is the only home for the sable antelope in Kenya, you may also see elephants, giraffes, buffalos and other antelopes, as well as ostriches and eagles. The butterflies are plentiful. The big African cats are represented by the leopard, but it is rarely seen, as the rich vegetation is perfect for this secretive cat to hide in. There are also serval cats and hyenas.
Back to the lodge for breakfast, after which we depart for Mombasa while trying to spot more wildlife as we exit the Shimba Hills reserve.
Cost will be provide on request and may go down depending on number of participants and safari lodges/tented camp you will choose to use.
