Ngutuni Lodge is a luxury safari lodge located in the heart of a 10,000 acre private game sanctuary – Ngutuni Game Sanctuary, surrounded on three sides by Tsavo East National Park. The lodge overlooks a water hole and is set against the spectacular backdrop of the Sagala Hills, only 2.5 hours drive from Mombasa and its international airport.

Ngutuni sanctuary surrounds Tsavo East national park, best known it’s fantastic variety of wildlife including lion, cheetah, elephant, buffalo as well as a huge variety of plains game and bird life.

Ngutuni Safari Lodge us spectacularly constructed from large timber poles, with plunging thatched roofs and waxed timber decking, the lodge skillfully blends traditional African design with the modern comforts of a luxury lodge.

Life at Ngutuni Safari Lodge follows a delightful routine, early mornings and late afternoons are spent game viewing as this is the best time to observe animals foraging for food in the surrounding savannah. Evenings are spent relaxing with safari companions; time to enjoy a sundowner overlooking the softly illuminated waterhole before a sumptuous dinner.

Ngulia Safari Lodge is situated spectacularly on the edge of Ndawe escarpment  just below Ngulia Hills, overlooking the Rhino Sanctuary, surrounded by scenic hills and  offering a vast panorama of Tsavo West’s sweeping plains.

Ngulia is an ideal base from which to explore Tsavo West, one of the world’s largest national parks. All of the Big Five – elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo and rhino – can be found here. Ngulia Safari Lodge can be accessed from Nairobi (260 km away), through Mtito Andei Gate or from Mombasa (250km away) through Tsavo River Gate.

Ngulia Safari Lodge has 52 standard rooms, all with bath and shower and a balcony with a view of the vast wilderness and floodlit water holes.

It has two restaurants: The main restaurant – built in an open-air style, has a view of floodlit water holes and the Leopard dinning tree. There is also the Leopard view bar open in the evenings before the arrival of the leopard from the wilderness. Guests can enjoy their meals as they watch the leopard feast, other animals drink water and the birds compete in their melodies.

When in the heat, guests can swim in the lodge’s pool. After the dark, the waterloo by the lodge is floodlit allowing guests to see the nocturnal animals coming in from the bush to quench their thirst including the illusive leopard.

Here the guests have a rare chance of coming close to the leopard in its natural environment as it comes for the baited meat at the floodlit viewpoint, thus making Ngulia Safari Lodge synonymous with leopard viewing.

Ngulia Bandas/Ngulia safari camp is a budget traveler’s accommodation in Tsavo West west national park. At the Ngulia Bandas/Safari camp you can get a fully equipped Banda (grass thatched hut). The Bandas have a bathroom, kitchen with supplies, and lanterns. Here you will bring your own personal supplies, food, and drinking water.

Salt Lick Lodge is set in the heart of Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary home to over 50  species of mammals, including elephant, all big cats, buffalo and giraffe roam freely. There are also over 300 species of birds including ostrich, eagles and vultures, to name just the bigger of the species.

Saltlick Lodge has 96 rooms in 12 clusters on stilts with only 4 rooms on each of the 2 floors. Rooms at the Saltlick Lodge have private bathrooms with shower. All beds have mosquito nets and each room is equipped with an electric fan to cool you on warmer nights.

The Saltlick Lodge restaurant features delicious international and local cuisine, usually in the form of sumptuous buffets, but also as table d’hôte when appropriate – these include vegetarian dishes. Saltlick’s well-stocked bar is centrally located in the main building and command spectacular views of the waterhole and surrounding grasslands, where elephant, buffalo and a variety of plains game can be seen throughout the year.

The waterholes at the Saltlick lodge are floodlit fat night allowing for uninterrupted observation of nocturnal wildlife and there is an underground tunnel and chamber with special windows giving you the chance to closely and safely view wildlife at ground level.

Night game drives conducted by specially trained wildlife rangers in vehicles fitted with powerful spotlights will provide you with an opportunity of seeing animals not normally encountered on a conventional game drive, such as spotted and striped hyena, various species of mongoose, jackal, civet, genet, honey badger, porcupine and bush baby

Evening wildlife talks by a qualified ecologist or ranger can be arranged on request as can a variety of special events like bush breakfasts, barbecue lunches, sundowners or ‘Out of Africa’ dinners on Kudu View Point and other attractive locations within the Sanctuary.

Taita Hills Game Lodge is situated in the midst of the Taita Hills Sanctuary, a private wildlife conservancy of 28,000 acres at the foot of the Taita Hills bordering Tsavo West National Park.

Taita Hills Game Lodge is an inviting stone building of 60 spacious rooms and two suites, all with their own private viewing balcony commanding views of the adjacent Taita Hills or the well-maintained gardens and surrounding Sanctuary. At night, floodlights illuminate the swimming pool and gardens and provide an opportunity to see any wildlife in the vicinity. It is not uncommon to see elephants daily at the watering hole next to the swimming pool.
